Headliners Vol.2: Mixed By Sister Bliss  >>

The brains behind Headliners belong to Sister Bliss, one of the most prominent female figures in dance music today. Her role within Faithless, her renowned DJ sets and her solo production work have all earned her a place at the top of the heap. A good choice then, to mix Headliners, a 30-odd track compilation of some of the most firin' tunes that have hit clubland of late. The set reflects the dubby, dark and potent sets that Sister is renowned for at places like Cream, Gatecrasher, Golden, Passion, The Gallery and the Ministry Of Sound. Moving through a range of club-carved moodscapes--from the darkly sinister to more insouciant anthems--Sister never once descends into cliché or "cheese". The tracks included are testament to her good taste; CD one brings us Jakatta'a tribal "American Dream", Trisco's energetic "Musak", X Press 2's monster groove "Muzikizum", Parks and Wilson's charged "My Orbit", while CD2 starts off in a more pumping fashion with Durango 95's percussive builder "Big Red Swoosh", before heading off in all sorts of directions with Ben Shaws acidic "So Strong" GIL's repetitive "Stringsign", her own "Sister Sister" and "Deliver Me" and Sander Kleinenberg's hooj "Observator". If you want a pumping soundtrack to your weekend for months to come, you really need look no further. --Paul Sullivan
