KungFu String Girls Band gave a wonderful performance on the international version of Smiling Circle

The international version of Smiling Circle Publishing ceremony was held in the old but anticipated Drum Tower at 0:00 on January 1, 2008. Lying on Beijing’s axis, with 700 years of history, Drum Tower was decorated by high-tech lights which lit the night sky over the capital. Accompanied the warm cheers and the countdown Bell, Beijing volunteers and citizens greeted the Olympic year that they have longed for.
As special guest performers, KungFu String girls brought this evening a fiery opening. The performance started at 23:30 in evening, when Beijing’s outdoor temperature was closed to 10 degrees below zero. But in order to ensure perfect performance results, they wore skirts in bitterly cold surrounding. Though wearing the least clothes among the stars, they were dancing full of charming just like beautiful butterflies. Their passionate style of performance ignited the passion of the audience, who were sparing no effort to give their most enthusiastic screams and cheers, completely forgot they were in a cold winter. According to KungFu String’s assistant Miss Shen, Girls had made a lot of efforts. They rehearsed as many as eight times, which were carried out outdoors. It was so cold that even a slight pause for a while, their fingers would lose consciousness. For the sake of withstanding chilliness, they all drank the vodka (known as the hard drinks) before performance.
KungFu String played Light of Glory, which was composed by famous musician DiJi for the sake of Olympics. It is majestic and excited .it expressed people’s expectation of Olympic and confidence of the victory incisively and vividly. It is worth mentioning that KungFu String had been involved in the Olympic volunteer’s performance Last New Year's night on the same stage. Public-spirited KungFu String girls have always taken part in the Olympic related activities. For example, they participated in the 1 year Olympic countdown anniversary celebration in Tiananmen Square together with other famous stars. Other large-scale performances they have participated are listed as follow: opening ceremony of the international sports, Beijing Olympic Volunteer theme activities, in 2007 the Olympic Games opening ceremony song collection, the 2007 Olympic Cultural Festival closing ceremony, CCTV "romantic ice • refueling for the Olympic Games" etc.
Wanna make a video?

Hello everyone.

Wanna make a video?

If anyone out there is good at crafting music videos out of thin air, we are looking for submissions for our song SPILL that we will consider submitting to Jam Records for the Sweet Relief Compilation DVD (proceeds benefit victims of hurricane Katrina). Our song SPILL is included on the compilation CD. Check out the Sweet Relief Myspace page that is listed as a top friend on our Myspace page at www.myspace.com/nushumusic

We thought that rather than put together a standard ‘band video’ (which is after all what we’d end up doing out of not really knowing much else) it might be more worthwhile/interesting/fun, to let any of you out there who are daring enough, put something together using whatever ideas/talents you have (cartoon-like as an example). Only limitation is that it should fit the song (if possible!) and not contain ‘objectionable’ material (error on the side of caution simply so we don’t have to sit around and judge the level of objectionablism to determine if it is acceptable – and YES we know we just made up a new word).

Submission deadline to us is February 14, 2008. We suggest you upload your video onto YouTube (or similar) and then let us know how to find it. Best ones may also end up on our Myspace &/or nushumusic.com.

For a limited time only you may download SPILL for
F R E E at www.nushumusic.com

Any questions, let us know!

Hey everyone. Sometime tonight our main myspace page got either deleted or cancelled. Hopefully by the time you read this it will be fixed, but if not we really need your help.
Here is the page
http://www.myspace.com/thedivinemadness
Earlier in the day we got a message that we were fished and then our site was GONE.
This is how you can help. Please tell myspace that your favorite site (ours) was hacked and deleted and please ask them to bring it back. We spent over 2 years promoting this site for hours everyday and to say the least this is really bad for us since we depend on this page for most of our online promotions.

Here is what to do:
Goto this link:
http://www.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=misc.contact
Then choose a topic and tell them about us, how much you love the page and ask what happened to it.
http://www.myspace.com/thedivinemadness

The Divine Madness friend ID: 42006106

THANK YOU!!!!
Love
dm

Other Site is http://www.myspace.com/thedivinemadnessband

New Album

Following the online release of 'Kill The Lights', we finished writing,
recording and mixing eleven other songs into a similar state. We then danced
and romanced our way into the loving arms of producer/engineer Dave
"Rave" Ogilvie and spent two weeks holed up at Orange Studios
doing some re-tracking and production work (amongst other things). Later
this week, Mike and I will fly out to join Dave in Vancouver... where we
plan to stand over his shoulder and heckle him as he mixes the album. As you
may already know, the album release is set for September 10th-12th.
Courtney Love an 'Idol' judge?

"American Idol" may feel the Love.

If "American Idol" fans think Paula Abdul's antics over the last couple years have been strange, they ain't seen nothing yet.

US Weekly reports that executive producer Nigel Lythgoe contacted Courtney Love about being a judge on the series.

"He called," Love said in the article. "He was wondering if I was interested. I thought it was kind of weird but brilliant."

Love's antics over the last few years have been a tabloid newspaper's dream. Her behaviour as a result of her much publicized drug problems have resulted in numerous trips to rehab, arrests and court dates.

There is no word on whether Love's possible stint as judge will be a full-time or part-time gig.

Love is currently in the studio working on the follow-up to her 2004 solo disc, "America's Sweetheart."

--- By JAM!
Evil Bong

Another Collide song is set to be immortalized in film. "Euphoria" is being used in the film "Evil Bong." That's right, you read it right, we said "Evil Bong." It is a Horror Comedy that stars Tommy Chong of the famous Cheech and Chong duo. For any of you trekkies out there, it also has a cameo appearance by William Shatner.

The film revolves around a possessed evil bong named EeBee. We hear that it is destined to be a cult classic. As the title suggests, the tale of 'Evil Bong' is quite a simple one. A studious young college kid moves in with a bunch of stoners who purchase a possessed bong from an ad in the back of High Times magazine. The bong arrives, and the roomies smoke out, only to find out, one by one, their “ultimate trip” ends in death.

The movie will be released on DVD late October, 2006 at Blockbuster Videos and Hollywood Videos nationwide.

http://www.myspace.com/evilbongthemovie

_____________________________________________
Lunatics at Myspace

The lunatics are taking over the asylum.
Singer Mariah Carey's concert in Hong Kong has been shelved after a dispute between the star and promoters.

The 36-year-old's manager has denied that it was cancelled due to poor ticket sales and "specific last-minute demands" from the star.

Benny Medina told the Associated Press that the gig was scrapped because promoters Concerts Asia failed to pay the singer her fee on time.

He added that they are trying to stage the concert with another promoter.

But Carey is planning to return to the US to work on a film and her next album, while Concerts Asia said on its website that an announcement will be made next week about refunds for ticket holders.

'No question'

Mr Medina said that the date would have been honoured even if ticket sales had proved sluggish, adding that 8,000 tickets had been sold - double the figure claimed by the promoter.

"If there were only 10 people in this venue, and this particular promoter had fulfilled his contractual obligations, we would be there. Mariah Carey loves her fans in South-East Asia.

"He has defaulted several times, right up into the last 48 hours. Literally we tried to hang in there with this guy.

"There's no question that Mariah is excited to go back to Hong Kong in the very near future," he added.

The tour was the first since the release of Carey's Grammy-winning album The Emancipation of Mimi, which Mr Medina has called her most successful to date.

Source : BBC News
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6090482.stm

New Album (The Open Door)

The second album from Evanescence, The Open Door sees this Arkansas, Little Rock quintet build on the metal melodrama and ambitious, Wagnerian operatics that saw former single "Bring Me To Life" top the UK chart for five weeks. The departure of co-founder Ben Moody, who reportedly left the band in 2003 to tackle an alcohol problem, means The Open Door is very much the work of singer/pianist Amy Lee. Fusing gothic, supernatural imagery with affairs of the heart, songs like "Lithium" and "Call Me When You're Sober" - a break-up number that makes like a Halloween Alanis Morisette, all girl-done-wrong sentiments ("Don't cry to me/If you loved me you would be here with me") and dramatic metal chug - sound every bit as huge as the stand-outs on their predecessor. As on Fallen, their 2003 debut, Evanescence pull the neat trick of blending rock heaviness with chart-friendly anthemicism (little wonder the band claim the mighty Meatloaf as an early inspiration). But some interesting moments come when Evanescence ease off on the metal histrionics, however - "Lacrymosa" delves a little deeper into classical composition, a trip-hop paced number featuring the strains of a string orchestra and the sombre chorus of an opera line. --Louis Pattison (Amazon.co.uk)

The highly philisophical yet delightfully playful David Levita is on guitar and the surprisingly limber Victor Indrizzo caresses the drum skins.
watch this space biiiiiitchesssss!!!!!!

Source : Harry @ MySpace

U.S. Tour; Launch New Single and Video

LACUNA COIL Announce U.S. Tour; Launch New Single and Video

Due to overwhelming demand, LACUNA COIL will return to the U.S. this November as direct support to Danzig as part of the next incarnation of his highly successful Blackest of The Black tour. We can’t wait to return to America with another true legend.”

This tour also coincides with the launch of the group’s new single for the track, “Closer,” the third single from Karmacode. Fans are invited to vote at http://ema.mtv.it (choose the “Italian Act” category and click “vota”). Do not try to vote more than once as your IP address will be recognized and your vote will be nullified.

Karmacode had a phenomenal first week at retail, securing the #28 spot on the Billboard Top 200 charts and debuting at #5 on the Hard Music chart just behind such acclaimed artists as Nickelback and Rob Zombie. The group initially left their mark on the hard rock scene in 2004 with their acclaimed album, Comalies, which opened several opportunities for them that were previously thought unattainable for an Italian band, such as two highly successful commercial radio campaigns alongside a breakthrough Ozzfest appearance, resulting in over 500,000 copies sold worldwide with a quarter-million in the U.S. alone.

JUDY COCUZZA, DRUMMER OF BETTY BLOWTORCH, JOINS CH

LOS ANGELES - Cheap Chick, the world’s first and only all-female Cheap Trick tribute band, are pleased to announce a new addition to their secret society. Picking from the best of the LA Girl Band Mafia, the band has lured none other than percussive enchantress Judy Cocuzza to join their ranks. When it comes to beating the skins, foxy Judy is known around Los Angeles for being one talented basher, having played previously with such LA musical luminaries as Bobsled, Tadpole and Borax. However, she’s probably most renowned under her pseudonym Judy Molish (get it? Ju Demolish?) playing with rock and roll bad girls, Betty Blowtorch.

Making her debut with Cheap Chick on January 3rd at the Knitting Factory, Judy has transformed herself into the suave and mysterious Bunni Carlos. With her white stay-press dress shirt and devilishly loosened tie, she invokes the spirit as well as the demanding beats of Bun E. Carlos, Cheap Trick’s man behind the kit. Judy is currently also doing studio and showcase work around town, so until some smart major label act snatches her up, Cheap Chick feel very fortunate to have her thumping thwack of a back beat behind them.

Joining members Pam Cheatersome (Pamita Neptuna/Pam Utterback) of the Neptunas and Riff Nielsen (Rifka Arslan) of the Magneatos and a new soon-to-be-named Robbin’ Zander, Judy rounds out what has been billed as an all-female indie-rock supergroup.

Cheap Chick’s former Bunni, Tonya Jaynes, is an international jet setter - currently working in Northern Calif., teaching drums in Las Vegas and occasionally making it back to LA once in a while to sleep. The members of Cheap Chick are thankful for her lending her percussive talents to Cheap Chick for the past six months and wish her great success in her future endeavors.

Canadian Music Week 2004 [3-5-04]

Joan will be in Toronto for Canadian Music Week

Celebrity Interview: Joan Jett & Kenny Laguna
Friday March 5, 2004 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Westin Harbour Castle Hotel

Put another dime in the jukebox baby, and catch the leather-clad Queen Of Rock 'n' Roll and her muse. In this frank Q&A, Joan Jett and longtime songwriting collaborator Kenny Laguna talk about Joan's unlikely career in the boys club of rock (the ex-Runaway was rejected by 23 labels before her hitmaking 1980 album Joan Jett). And you'll hear how the refueled Jett is back in the studio and in the nation's face this election year.

http://www.cmw.net/paneljoan.htm

http://www.ticketmaster.ca/artist/906938

http://www.chartattack.com/damn/2004/02/2409.cfm

http://www.cmw.net/presscyndi.htm

scarling.news

Hello again,

First let me be the first to announce that the first Scarling. release in the form of a 7 inch will be available on March 19th through Sympathy For The Record Industry and Mordam Distribution.

LA transplant Jessicka ( ex-Jack Off Jill) now fronts the dark noise rock band scarling. (defined as "the smallest mark left on your heart by the healing of a severe injury"). Situated somewhere between a freeway pileup and a blissful coma, scarling. dish out a sophisticated audio violence that's capable of slicing up the frontal lobes of metal dullards, feminist femme fatals, and fey indie-rockers alike. "Band Aid Covers The Bullet Hole" and "H/C" are produced by Chris Vrenna. They will be releasing their debut 7-inch on blood red vinyl on Sympathy For The Record Industry, featuring original cover artwork done by Mark Ryden.

If you'd like to read an article about Sympathy Records and it's founder Long Gone John, click here

Los Angeles Times Sunday, January 19, 2003

for more information on Scarling.
http://www.scarling.com

for more information on Sympathy For The Record Industry
http://www.sympathyrecords.com

for more information on Chris Vrenna & Tweaker
http://www.tweaker.net

for more information on Mark Ryden
http://www.markryden.com

for more information for Mordam Distribution
http://www.mordamrecords.com

"Scarling. sounds like being French kissed by the most beautiful beings in the world, and then being unable to stop the bleeding. Really alluring yet massive stuff." Alternative Press

"The Addams Family In Wonderland" LIPSTUCK

"Like the Cure with bigger distortion pedals and a violent case of PMS." FRANCE SHOULD NOT EXIST ZINE

Here's the tracks

A side :Band Aid Covers The Bullet Hole 3:40
B side: H/C (pronounced H over C ) 2:29

SCARMERCH:

All order received before Jan 14th have been sent out. If you fear your order is late or has been lost by the lovely post office please contact scarmerch@aol.com and they will kindly rectify your situation.
NEW* merchandise will be available closer to the release of the record please keep checking http://www.scarling.net/store/index.html for updates.

If you have a scarling related link and would like to see it on the site please email thatspecialgurrl@aol.com and we'll get it up as soon as possible.

Due to the overwhelming amount of mail I have received about scarling. I have not been able to get to it all so I decided to answer frequently asked questions here:

1. Will Scarling. be touring ( insert your location here) soon?
I believe Jessicka answer this one best.
J:Here's the answer for everybody who asked if we were going to play (London, Australia, Scotland, Florida, Utah, Manchester, Arizona, Oregon,Vegas, North Carolina,Washington, Connecticut-add your location here) in the future? We'd like to, we really would. Our future out of the country touring will all depend on the labels we sign with in each market. They'd have to pay for us to leave the US so make some fuss about us wherever you are and we'll do our best to get on a label who will provide good tour support to get us there. As far as the US goes you'll be seeing us sooner then later. We have certainly not forgotten about the East Coast. (though we do not have any tour dates lined up and probably won't until the completion of the album)

2: Can I interview Jessicka/Scarling. for my zine?
Sure, but we are kinda backed up so it may take awhile to get your answers back, thanks for being patient.

3. When will Scarling release something?
March 19th

4. What songs will be on that release?
A side :Band Aid Covers The Bullet Hole 3:40
B side: H/C (pronounced H over C ) 2:29

5. Will I be able to get it online?
Yes!

6. I don't have a record player. When will CD's be available?
The answer I got was, SOON!

7.Why is Scarling taking so long to release something? I've been waiting forever.
J: Ah this question. The only thing I regret about scarling. so far is that I mentioned the name almost a year before there was any music or even a band. It was just a name I came up with. People online kind of took the ball and ran with it. It's not that we are working at a particularly slow pace it's more that people knew about scarling, before there really was a scarling. Also we are working with a small label called Sympathy For The Record Industry and it's a one man operation, so things take time. Things will pick up mid 2003.
C: We originally had a plan to start from and some things changed, some things fell through, etc, etc. mostly all out of our control as things usually are when your starting from the beginning. Things actually started very quickly for us & we needed to stop for a bit to make some necessary adjustments. Hopefully things will start happening quickly soon & then we'll all be wishing it would slow down for a while. We do have to thank everyone for standing by us in the meantime... we won't let you down, we promise. There are some big things coming..... soon.

8. Does Jessicka read the email I send to the TSG account?
No, but I do forward it to her account.

9. Why can't I log on to the SCARBOARD?

THE SCARBOARD!
http://www.scarling.net/scarboard/index.php
You want to make friends, have fights, do wrongs, make rights, or just read to see what others are saying...? Please visit the SCARBOARD,"Your one and only source of scarling. information, drama, and rampant rumors."
Thanks for being so patient,
Scarling.
Nitocris have split....

After 10 years, approximately 1500 shows, 2 albums and 5 EP's NITOCRIS have made the very difficult decision to have an indefinite and possibly permanent break to pursue their own personal projects. The girls have been playing around the country since they were all an average age of 15 and have achieved amazing success within Australia. 2001 alone has seen them play the Big Day Out Tour nationally; complete their own 60 date national headlining tour; receive an ARIA Nomination for Best Independent Release; and release the final single, SPOUSE KILLER, from their self-titled album. Andi, Gana, Jessie, Kira & Sara would like to thank everyone who has helped and supported them over the last 10 years.

Due to the first final show being rained out, NitOCriS will be playing one more final show in Sydney, most likely early in 2002. Check this site for details as they come to hand.
NitOCriS would like to thank everyone who came to the Newtown Festival and braved the rain, especially those who travelled from interstate at such short notice.
And Now...The Runaways reissued by Cherry Red Records
Cherry Red Records - Newsletter page 1
New Releases
14th October
The Runaways
And Now…The Runaways
CDMGRAM 63
http://www.cherryred.co.uk/crzone/newletters/october/1.htm

Cherry Red Records - Newsletter page 4
Unavailable for some time, The Runaways have their "And Now…" (CDMGRAM 63) album re-issued.
http://www.cherryred.co.uk/crzone/newletters/october/4.htm

Runaways
http://www.cherryred.co.uk/anagram/runaways.htm

The Cherry Red Story
I'd seen the then controversial all girl group, The Runaways play the previous year at The Roundhouse. They were great! When I heard that Phonogram in England didn't want to release their new album, I tracked down their manager in New York and offered him a small advance for the record. One Friday evening a month later I arrived at Chappels recording studio to meet singer Joan Jett and her manager Toby Mamis. Joan was there recording some new tracks with Paul Cook and Steve Jones from The Sex Pistols. I was a little nervous at first. Were a band who were used to the financial benefits of a major record company going to be happy with the minimal resources of Cherry Red? I needn't have worried. Toby Mamis already knew the game I was playing and was just pleased to get the album out. When The Runaways album was released we were viewed in a different way. It was little like being promoted from the Vauxhall Conference to the Third Division. We were now in the league!
http://www.cherryred.co.uk/cherryred/cred-story.htm
