Lita Ford Believes Runaway Bandmates' Rape Story Friday, July 24, 2015

(Classic Rock) Former Runaways guitarist Lita Ford says she believes ex-bassist Jackie Fox was raped by the band's impresario Kim Fowley. Fox spoke out this month about the events of New Year's Eve 1975, saying she was assaulted by Fowley after being force-fed drugs, while Runaways members Joan Jett and Cherie Currie were amonth the witnesses. Fowley died of cancer in January. Jett and Currie have both denied Fox's description of the attack. Fox has argued that the musicians, who were all teenagers at the time, were victims of the situation too. Ford tells Rockin' 101: "I do know that Jackie's not a liar. If she says somebody was watching her, and if she says that this happened, then I believe her. She's a little extreme at times - but still, it's not right. I wasn't there and no one told me about it. This is the first I've heard of it." Read more and stream the full interview here. Classic Rock Magazine is an official news provider for antiMusic.com. Sunday Old School: Lita Ford Sunday, April 6, 2014

If you grew up in the eighties you knew Lita Ford as the hard rock girl with credentials. She could play guitar and mix it up vocally with Ozzy Osbourne. Eventually you find out she was part of The Runaways and that's when you really begin to appreciate how important she has been to rock and roll. Lita Ford was only sixteen when she joined the all-female rock band The Runaways. In 1976 the band released their first album, with Ford on lead guitar; the band would record three more albums and tour throughout the seventies. The Runaways were never a huge success in the U.S., but did reach number one with their ... comeback album" titled 'Living Like a Runaway.' Ford has since patched things up with her band mates from The Runaways and continues to tour, promote rock and roll and be a sex symbol for aging metal heads. Thankfully, she has aged much better than the eighties front men. Lita Ford Releases Mother Video Thursday, May 9, 2013

(Classic Rock) Lita Ford has released a video for her track Mother. It's taken from her 2012 album Living Like A Runaway, which is based on her experiences after escaping from an abusive marriage - and not being allowed to see her two sons. Last year she explained: "I had 45 minutes to get out of the house. I grabbed my keys one day, got my guitars and put them in a neighbour's house. I got to the point where I knew it was time to make a break for it. I thought I wasn't going to live very long. I really thought it was going to be the end of me - I had to leave." The song Mother is her personal message to her sons. "My kids are with their dad," she told Decibel last year. "There was a huge divorce that went down. He took them from me by brainwashing them and telling them, 'Oh, you don't want to go with Mommy, Mommy's bad.' He put the entire weight of the divorce on the back of my kids - which is the worst thing any parent could possibly do to their child." Watch the video here. Lita Ford blames Joan Jett for Runaways delay Sunday, December 30, 2012

Email this storyPrintable version Lita Ford did a lot of work over the summer to bring the original members of the Runaways back together, including a dinner with Joan Jett, the first time the two had talked in three decades. Ford talked to Bravewords.com about her plans for 2013 including the possibility for that reunion: "I can't get a yes or no out of Joan. So I've kind of thrown in the towel. It's now or never. I would love it, but for some reason, I don't know why, it's Joan's camp. The ball is in her camp. It's up to them." Even if it doesn't come together, Ford will have a very busy year with the publication of her autobiography, Living Like a Runaway, a live album and a tour. "We've got the Monsters of Rock Cruise (Monstersofrockcruise.com) - that's going to be pretty awesome. That's March, and it's through the Bahamas. And then we're going to be playing in Scandinavia in the summer of 2013, and the US." To read the whole interview, including Lita's encounter with Led Zeppelin, go to Bravewords. The former bandmates, along with Cherie Currie, settled their differences during the summer, after Ford arranged dinner dates with each of them.
